Background Details
The Guji-Uraga washing station is operated by Kuri Mountain Coffee, under the leadership of producer Habtamu Fekadu Aga. Established in 2015, the station is located in Koba, Uraga/Solomo district, within Ethiopia’s Guji Zone. It sits at an altitude of 2000 to 2250 meters above sea level and is surrounded by highland topography adjacent to Dimtu Ambella and Yirgacheffe. The station serves around 450 small-scale farmers cultivating garden coffee across 500 hectares.
The washed processing method used at Guji-Uraga to produce this coffee involves mechanical mucilage removal, followed by soaking and drying. Coffee is sun-dried under shade on raised African beds for 11–13 days. Wastewater is treated based on pH levels to ensure environmental sustainability. This method enhances clarity and brightness in the cup, highlighting the coffee’s terroir.

Green coffee transparency: 520lbs @ $6.75/lb, Jan 2026 (Commodity coffee price: $4.10/lb. Why is this important? Coffee pricing is complex and multifaceted, and sharing what we paid is an incomplete picture, but we believe in sharing the data we have available, hoping that will embolden others to do the same, with the ultimate goal of getting producers fairer pay for their excellent work.)
